I have a history in performance art and in theatre since 1980. During these years I have been artistic director of several theatre companies as well as working freelance both as a director and as a scenographer. The name of my present company is Mobile Homes, and it was formed in 2001.
I have since the beginning of my carrier been concerned with theatre in its many aspects; classical theatre as well as contemporary forms. In the 1980 I was deeply involved in group based production forms and at that time I made use of physical expressionism as it has been practiced in various forms since the introduction of the Grotowski method as well as forms like the Jananeese Butoh (Bodyweather/Min Tanaka).
As an artist I have been influenced and inspired by the European performanceart scene, where strong individual artwork has developed as a response to a postmodern mediasociety and a new global lifestyles that has altered and is altering our lives in a fundamental way.
As a consequence of the impact of public media I have been concerned about exploring a personal way to use multimedia and high technology in my work. Focusing on our sense of time and communication. Slowing things down. Caring about details. Mixing old fashion forms with a modern expressions in order to obtain new ways of storytelling.
I like to describe my performances as many layered audiovisual landscapes. Rooms for reflection. Like resting rooms in old time train stations or prayer rooms in an airport. These are not places where you will be entertained. These are places where you can stop time, where you can discover new connections, revive your senses or remember things that you have forgotten.
I want my performances to be places where you can read the world.
